Abstract

The epiphytic diatom community living on Chara vulgaris L. collected between January-April 2001 to determine the epiphytic diatom flora of Tatlı, Gıcı and Liman Lakes. 28 taxa belonging to epiphytic diatom flora was determined on Chara vulgaris. Among the epiphytic algae Navicula gregaria, N. rhyncocephala, N. radiosa, Fragilaria ulna, Cymbella ventricosa, Cocconeis placentula, C. pediculus and Diatoma vulgare were found to be important in all three lake. Physical factors such as light, temperature and salinity were found to be effective on distribution and abundance of diatoms.
