A hybrid electric car’s emission

experiments on typical city roads

Abstract

 

   Based on portable emission measurement system, a hybrid electric car’s emission experiments on typical city roads are carried out. Then the car’s emission characteristics are analyzed. When the car’s speed is less than 50 km/h, the engine is shut off and there is no exhaust. The engine temperature is down and the NOX emission is reduced. The NOX emission on expressway is the highest, the value on the freeway is medium and the value on the backbone road is the smallest. When the car is accelerated above 50 km/h again, the CO and HC emission peaks appears. There are frequent peaks on the main road and the CO and HC emission factors are high. There are peaks on the expressway and the CO and HC emission factors are medium. There is no peak on the expressway and the CO and HC emission factors are the smallest.
