Abstract

 

     For effective transmission line protective relaying fast and accurate fault detection and classification is necessary. A wavelet analysis based approach for detection and classification of transmission line faults is proposed in this paper. In the proposed approach wavelet multiresolution ana1erpreetigupta@yahoo.comlysis (MRA) of three phase current samples taken at one end of transmission line is carried out. To validate the proposed approach extensive simulation studies have been carried out under variable operating conditions using electromagenetic transient program (EMTP) and MATLAB.
